How many times have you told yourself, “I’ll start Monday”?
I’ll start exercising next week. I’ll eat healthier when life slows down. I’ll pursue that opportunity when I feel more confident.
But here’s the thing about life: it rarely slows down. There will always be another responsibility, obstacle, or reason why today doesn’t seem like the right day. Before we know it, tomorrow becomes next week, next month, or even next year.
Are you waiting to feel ready before you start becoming the person you want to be? One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that confidence doesn’t always come before action. Sometimes, confidence is the result of repeatedly doing something uncomfortable. Growth doesn’t require confidence. Growth requires action.
I experienced this firsthand while becoming a chiropractor. I struggled with communicating with patients and finding my confidence while adjusting. What changed? I started practicing more. I pushed myself to communicate, adjust, and step outside my comfort zone, even when I didn’t feel confident.
Over time, things improved – because I was willing to grow through the process. Sometimes the very thing you’re waiting to feel ready for is the thing you need to start doing in order to become ready.
What Does Scripture Say About Waiting?
“He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” Ecclesiastes 11:4
If a farmer waits for perfect weather, he may never plant anything. Without planting, there can be no harvest. How often do we do the same thing in our own lives?
In Exodus 4:10–12, Moses questions his ability to speak when God calls him to lead the Israelites. He doesn’t feel equipped or confident, yet God reminds Moses that He will be with him and teach him what to say. Faith doesn’t mean knowing exactly how everything will unfold. Sometimes it means trusting God enough to take the first step.
Your Health Is No Different
We often approach health with an all-or-nothing mentality. We think we need the perfect diet, exercise routine, and schedule before making a change. When that feels overwhelming, we simply don’t start. But what if improving your health began with one small decision?
This can be a 15-minute walk. Making one better nutritional choice. Prioritizing sleep. Becoming proactive about your health rather than waiting until something goes wrong. One thing I appreciate about chiropractic philosophy is the emphasis on taking an active role in supporting your body’s function and overall well-being.
Health isn’t built through one perfect day. It’s influenced by the decisions we consistently make over time.
This Week’s Premier Life Challenge
Identify ONE thing you’ve been putting off because you don’t feel ready. Ask yourself: What have I been waiting to feel ready for? What’s actually holding me back? What’s one small step I can take in the next 24 hours?
Remember, one setback doesn’t erase your progress. You don’t have to wait until next Monday to begin again. Your very next decision can be a step in the right direction.
Stop waiting for everything to line up perfectly. God can work through your willingness, even when you’re uncertain of your abilities. Your future isn’t built tomorrow. It’s built through the decisions you make today. Take that first step. Trust the process. Trust God.
Have a blessed week,
Dr. Luke
